Timothy Brown AIA CSI ALA

Timothy Brown is a Licensed Architect in Illinois and North Carolina.

He did his undergraduate studies at Clemson University and his Masters at the University of Illinois Chicago. He founded Atelier FLIR, a design collaborative, in 1991 and then in 2003 launched Tim Brown Architecture while working in Paris.

Tim has been a member of AIA since 2002 and is Vice-President of the AIA Chicago Foundation. He is a member of the Association of Licensed Architects and the Building Enclosure Council Chicago. He recently served as the President of the Chicago Architectural Club.

Tim joined the Illinois Institute of Technology's College of Architecture in 1990 where he is a Studio Associate Professor. His teaching roles have ranged widely from first year design studio to thesis advising. He is the Director of the second year core undergraduate design studio. Additional teaching centers on graduate level research courses in advanced technology and materials. He directed and taught the College's European study programs for over a decade living in Montepulciano, Barcelona, London, Berlin, and Paris. His current role as Director of International Affairs means he still lectures, leads IIT study tours, and teaches design workshops around the world.

A native of the Southern Appalachians, after twenty-three years he still struggles with Chicago's flat topography and flat vowels.
